Honoring the Past: The Journey of No Stone Left Alone

When the past often fades into the background, the No Stone Left Alone Memorial Foundation stands as a beacon of remembrance and gratitude. Founded by Maureen Bianchini Purvis, the initiative began with a simple yet profound promise to her late mother: to remember and honor those who served in the military. This promise has blossomed into a nationwide movement, touching the hearts of Canadians and beyond.

A Promise Kept

Maureen's journey began at the tender age of 12, when she placed a poppy on her mother's grave, fulfilling a promise to remember Armistice Day. This act of remembrance grew into a family tradition, eventually sparking the creation of No Stone Left Alone. The foundation's mission is simple yet powerful: to ensure that every veteran's grave receives a poppy, symbolizing gratitude and respect.

A Movement Grows

From its humble beginnings at Beachmount Cemetery, No Stone Left Alone has expanded across Canada and even reached international shores. The foundation's impact is profound, with students, educators, and military personnel coming together to honor those who served. The initiative has placed over three-quarters of a million poppies, each one a testament to the enduring spirit of remembrance.

A New Generation of Remembrance

No Stone Left Alone is more than a ceremony; it's an educational movement. By involving students in the act of remembrance, the foundation fosters a deep connection to history and civic responsibility. As Maureen and Randall Purvis, key figures in the foundation, emphasize, this new generation of remembrance is about more than just learning from textbooks—it's about actively participating in honoring the past.

Join the Movement

The No Stone Left Alone Memorial Foundation continues to grow, thanks to the dedication of volunteers and the support of communities across Canada. As we look to the future, the foundation invites everyone to join in this meaningful journey of remembrance. Whether through participating in ceremonies, supporting fundraising efforts, or simply spreading the word, every action contributes to a legacy of gratitude and respect.
